24th Weeks / Pregnancy weight / Fetal Growth Chart
i've gained a total of 6kg as of today at 24 weeks of pregnancy. I'm so worried if I gain as much as I did during my first pregnancy.. that is 22kg.

I was so @#&^%$ big!! at that time. Some thought that I was carying twins! :(

so for now, I'm trying my very best to control my diet. (yeah right!) and till today, everythings looks okay.

other update:

at 24 weeks, I still havent see my gynae yet. My gynae's mum passed away last Monday. Alfatihah to her mum. She's back to work today. I hope to see her today.

Baby is so active. last week, he was active in the evening. But this week, he'd change to a morning person.. he'd start kicking at around 9am. then rest for a while .. till I have my lunch. then start kicking againg.. till the evening. He's slow down towards night time..

Some still didnt notice me being pregnant. (why???).. i tot my tummy is already big enuf? ergh..
something worth sharing.
Pregnancy weight:
7.5 pounds/3.40kg - average baby's weight
7.0 pounds/3.18kg - extra stored nutrients like fat, protein, etc.
4.0 pounds/1.81kg - extra blood
4.0 pounds/1.81kg - extra body fluids
2.0 pounds/0.9kg - amniotic fluid surrounding the baby
2.0 pounds/0.9kg - breast enlargement
2.0 pounds/0.9kg - enlargement of uterus
1.5 pounds/0.68kg - placenta
total: 30pounds/13.60kg

When Should Weight Gain Occur During Pregnancy?
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) advises that Moms-to-be should gain 2-4 pounds in the first three months of their pregnancy and then 3-4 pounds per month for the remaining six months. A total weight gain of about 25 to 30 pounds, with most weight being gained in the last trimester.

21st & 22nd week

Dear ***,
You are now in week 21 of your pregnancy.

Your baby is now around three-quarters of a pound and nearly 11 inches long, they have fully formed eyelids and eyebrows at this point, what's more they're getting ready for another growth spurt-- this time to start packing on that cute baby fat. If you've noticed what seem like mild contractions, you're right! But not to worry, they're a far cry from what you're going to experience during labor. Learn more about these in our full-length article for week 21.

Dear ***,
You are now in week 22 of your pregnancy.

Your baby is nearly an entire foot long and weighs almost an entire pound! What's more they've started to produce their own hormones as their little pancreas continues to steadily develop. As for you, your uterus is getting massive, so your belly is massive, and you're worried more about stretch marks, so it probably hasn't occurred to you to get a glucose screening test, but maybe you should. Check out the full article for week 22 to learn more about glucose screening.

If you haven’t felt them already, you may soon notice your uterus practicing for delivery with irregular, painless contractions called Braxton Hicks contractions (felt this already). You may feel a squeezing sensation in your abdomen. Don't worry, though: Your baby may be able to feel the contraction as it squeezes the uterus, but Braxton Hicks contractions aren't dangerous or harmful. If, however, the contractions become more intense, painful, or frequent, contact your health care provider immediately because painful, regular contractions may be a sign of preterm labor.

Fetal development in pregnancy week 18:
fetus in fifth month We have two more ounces! Your "getting bigger-n-better by the minute baby" is already up to 7 ounces and 6 inches! This is a big week for their baby skin. There are now two distinct layers—the epidermis (or the surface skin) and dermis. Currently, their skin is covered with a greasy, waxy, cheese-like substance, known as vernix caseosa. Sure, it sounds pretty nasty, but this mixture of fatty secretions covering your little swimmer from head to toe is the best way to protect their oh-so-thin skin from bruising and abrasions as well as chapping caused by amniotic fluid exposure (and your little one is swimming in that stuff!). Still don’t like the fact your little darling is currently slathered in fatty cream like a greased pig? Well, you know the birthing process? Where you have to push something the size of a watermelon out a hole the size of a grape? That adorable little greased piglet would have a lot harder time getting through the birth canal without the vernix caseosa. Fun fact for momma’s with baby girls: it’s a uterus within a uterus! Your little girl will have developed a uterus and vagina canal by the end of this week.

Your Baby's Development
Ears move to their final position and they stand out from the head. And start brushing up on your lullabies — in the coming weeks, your baby will probably be able to hear! The bones of the middle ear and the nerve endings from the brain are developing so that your baby will hear sounds such as your heartbeat and blood moving through the umbilical cord. He or she may even be startled by loud noises! Your baby's eyes are also developing — they're now facing forward rather than to the sides, and the retinas may be able to detect the beam of a flashlight if you hold it to your abdomen.
Until now, your baby's bones had been developing but were still soft. This week, they begin to harden, or ossify. Some of the first bones to ossify are those in the clavicles and the legs.
mommy's development:

And how's mom doing? POP! If you haven’t yet, you will soon be seeing the last of your inn-y belly button—until after you’ve pushed your little monkey out. If it’s getting difficult to breathe, you can thank your not-so-small belly for squishing your lungs—which will be more and more cramped for space as the pregnancy is surprising as everything else in your mid-section is getting properly squooshed as well. (What else is new?!!). Keep in mind that as you grow (and grow and grow) in size you produce more blood (for both of you), which lowers your blood pressure. So standing up quickly and/or occasional fast movements may cause slight dizziness or lightheadedness. This is totally normal, but means you shouldn’t be too quick to jump to your feet when your team scores a goal—better to just punch the air in excitement or clap gleefully. One more fun pregnancy symptom to add to the list: you are producing more melanin, which can cause dark patches of skin to occur on random parts of your body. Don’t worry—these dark spots (unlike your parent’s age spots) will retreat soon after birth
You're probably beginning to prepare for life with baby. Your preparations should extend beyond gathering the layette and decorating the nursery, though. This is a good week to begin your search for a pediatrician or other health care provider for your child. Schedule visits to meet with potential doctors to discuss issues such as appointment availability, immunization scheduling, and when to call in an emergency. You'll also want to learn as much as you can about their practices and procedures.
Some good questions to ask: How many health care providers are in the practice? Who covers nights and weekends? What is their policy on phone calls? Which hospitals are they affiliated with? What insurance do they accept? What specialists do they work with? How are emergencies handled?
It's important that you feel comfortable with your child's doctor, so do your homework and make your decision carefully

15th Week
no.2 at 15th week

The first scan photo to be uploaded. the first scan photo at 7 weeks (to confirm there's a heart beat) is still with my mum (pasted on her birthday card) & the second scan photo at 11 weeks, is with my hubby ..

so this one is still with me. Later on I will put all together in an album like I did for Haariz. Haariz scan photos here.

Baby is okay. everything is fine according to the gynea. I gained 0.5kg. (okay I guess?!) Gender..eheh.. maybe next month. :) But she did say something :) ..but.. y dont we just wait for another month to confirm heh?

asked her regarding the supplements I plan to take. The Usana Essentials pack & Usana Calcium. She said okay, so no additional supply from her. oh, wait.. there's one.. For DHA, called Neurogain.

well, nothing much. Next visit is on 12 March.

Weekly development:

Baby

Your baby may have developed the habit of sucking his or her thumb! The skin is very thin and you can see the blood vessels clearly underneath.
Your baby is about 70 grams. The scalp hair pattern is developing. And the heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day. This will increase to about 300 at term.

Your nearly four-inch long gymnast is happily mobile inside your womb, and if you're really lucky, you’ll notice a point when your sneezing, coughing or laughing results in a little kick here or a poke there-- although many women don't feel anything until the 17th week or later. Although the poking and kicking isn't very charming during sleeping hours, it’s a good sign as it means your baby is actually reacting to outside events! (Yay! You’ve got yourself one active healthy baby!) Their little elbows and knees are bending more freely this week and their little legs are finally growing longer than their arms and getting them all pumped up for prenatal Richard Simmons. Many of their major organ systems are increasing in capacity—particularly that amazing tiny heart and complex circulation system, which is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood per day, and will increase to a very impressive 200 quarts per day by the end of the pregnancy. As far as hair goes, we’ve got some new scalp patterns beginning to develop on the head, although actual head hair is not yet present.

At around 4 inches long, crown to rump, your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 ounces. He's busy inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which will help develop the air sacs in his lungs. His legs are growing longer than his arms now, and he can move all his joints and limbs. That means his hands are more functional, too. Sweat glands are appearing, and although his eyelids are fused shut, he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, he's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but his taste buds are beginning to form. And if you have an ultrasound, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or girl! (Don't be disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down the sex depends somewhat on how clear the picture is and the position of your baby during the ultrasound; he may be curled or turned in such a way as to keep you in suspense.)

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

Me

Your heart is increasing its output to supply the baby with oxygen. Your enlarged heart is pumping about 20% more blood than prepregnancy. This volume will actually increase throughout your pregnancy for an ending increased heart output of 30-50%.
If your
clothes are getting tight, do not try to cram yourself into clothes. Either invest in some maternity clothes, borrow them, wear your partner's clothing or unzip your pants!
The maternal blood screening for neural tube defects, often called the
Alpha-fetoprotein Test (AFP) may be offered at this point. It is a screening that is most accurate during the 15 - 17th weeks of gestation, although this screening has a high false positive rate.

Have your cheeks been rosier lately? (We’re just talking about your face.) Are you feeling especially radiant? This famed “glow” is brought to you courtesy of the pregnancy fairy who has waved her magical “rosy tinge wand” over you. Seriously though, your body is experiencing an increase in blood be aware that increased blood flow might cause your blood vessels to expand, resulting in a series of not-so-magical nosebleeds flow and you probably do have flushed skin and cheeks. Just be aware that increased blood flow might cause your blood vessels to expand, resulting in a series of not-so-magical nosebleeds for some women, which although perfectly normal, are a bit gory if you’ve got a day job. If you find the nosebleeds especially irritable, consider purchasing a humidifier to ward off future nose bleeds. Also, do your best to avoid irritants, such as aerosols, smoke, dust, etc. Even though the placenta is regulating your babe’s hormones, you are still producing additional estrogen, which often causes swelling of the mucosa membranes, and leaving you with a stuffy nose—potentially throughout the duration of the pregnancy. These are just a few of the charming physical experiences you can chalk up to the pregnancy fairy!

You've probably gained about 5 pounds by now. If it's a little more or less, don't worry too much. Every woman gains weight at a different rate. While you're well into the swing of being pregnant, you may still be surprised by an unexpected symptom now and then. If your nose is stuffed up, for example, you can probably chalk it up to your pregnancy. That's because increased estrogen can cause swelling in the mucous membranes and possibly the production of more mucus. Your blood volume is increasing, too, which causes your blood vessels to expand, including those in your nose. (You may get occasional nosebleeds as a result.) And because pregnancy alters your immune system and makes you more susceptible to certain infections, it might just be that you have a cold or allergies. In any case, make sure you stay away from irritants, like cigarette smoke, aerosols, and alcohol. To soothe your nostrils, use a humidifier or vaporizer at night, and drink plenty of fluids. You can also try over-the-counter saline drops or a buffered saline nasal spray. (If you're truly miserable, ask your doctor or midwife if it's okay to take decongestant medication.)Don't worry if you and your partner are feeling a little stressed out these days. Many pregnant couples worry about the baby's health and how they'll cope as new parents. But with minimal physical discomfort and renewed energy, this is also a wonderful trimester for most women, so try to enjoy it

13th .. opss...14th week
jeeez.. totally forgotten to update my 13th week pregnancy post..
I was so busy updating my Shop blog that I totally forgotten to post an entry here :(

shall we skip then?

I'm in my 14th week of pregnancy. My appetite is getting better. I crave for:

* McD's chocolate shake..
* Pizza (D*min*s to be exact)

No weight gain YET.

I had a cranky tummy last week. Started on Tuesday, lasted till about Sunday. It wasnt food poisoning or anything.. only that my tummy is so sensitive, with gas & being picky on what to eat..added more and more gas, wind.. vomited few times.. plus something like diarrhea but nothing serious.. (trust me). Most importantly that I'm okay now! Alhamdulillah.

I had my last Duphaston tablet 2 days ago.. yippie..!

I consulted my gynae during my last visit,. whether to stop or continue taking it..as I thought it is the cause of my lost of appetite & nausea. But since she said it's better for me to continue, due to my last miscarriage.. so.. I had to..

okay, on the pregnancy updates:

Baby

Week 14: The neck gets longer and pulls the head further up away from the chest. Size: 3.2 to 4.1 inches Weight: 1 ounce

Fetal development in pregnancy week 14:fetus in fourth month Isn’t it glorious? You and your little buckaroo have roped your way right into trimester numero dos! Are you ready to rock!? Okay, okay… maybe just a little rolling and poking and well, needless to say, your baby will definitely be making themselves known in the upcoming weeks. At about 3.5 inches long, their little body and limber limbs are coordinated enough for loads of complicated motions. In fact, their whole body is moving right now!—only their current size is still a bit too small for you to notice. (Movement would be recognizable on an ultrasound. Speaking of which, you shoud be scheduling one with your health care provider—week 16 is the classic date as you can usually determine whether your little one is going to pee standing up or sitting down) Your baby is also starting to develop the ability to move their eyes this week, although the eyelids still remain fused shut. What's more, they can make all sorts of fun facial expressions as they practice squinting, frowning, and grimacing. Cute development of the week: their little hands can grasp at things and they may already be sucking their thumb!

Your Baby's Development: By this week, some fine hairs have developed on your baby’s face. This soft colorless hair is called lanugo, and it will eventually cover most of your baby’s body until it is shed just before delivery.
By now, your baby’s genitals have fully developed, though they may still be difficult to detect on an ultrasound examination. In addition, your baby starts to produce thyroid hormones because the thyroid gland has matured. Your baby now weighs about 1.6 ounces (45 grams) and is about 3.5 inches (9 cm) long from crown to rump.

Me

You're exactly one third of the way through your pregnancy - the average pregnancy lasts 266 days, or 280 days from the first day of your last period. If you are having the Chorionic Villus sampling test (to check for Down's syndrome) it's done round about now. Your uterus is continuing to grow. At this stage, it's about the size of a grapefruit. It may be pressing on your bladder... causing a slight irritation, or making you need to wee more often. Unborn babies push down on the bladder, urethra, and pelvic muscles. You may notice you are beginning to look plumper on your arms, hips and face. You'll probably be more comfortable in clothing that doesn't fasten at the waist, and which doesn't restrict you. The embryo`s soft cartilage is now being replaced with ` real` chalk bones. Your baby has eyebrows, but no eyelashes. Fine, light hair also begins to grow. Throughout pregnancy, the amniotic fluid remains at a constant temperature, half a degree higher than your own body temperature.

What’s in the forecast for your second trimester? We’ve got a heavy concentration of developing fetal movement, which will increase in magnitude in frequency through the duration of the second trimester before subsiding in the third trimester as womb-space becomes limited. If you think you’ve got the gas or some kind of odd bowel obstruction right now, it might actually just be your little one poking you hello! You’ll become more familiar with the sensation as the frequency and intensity increase (and you’ll never be able to forget this special feeling!).
Onto the less exciting news: you will most likely experience some if not all of these symptoms to varying degrees: dizziness, headache and back pain. Just like morning sickness during the first trimester, your chances of experiencing a given set of symptoms increases if you’ve already had them in a previous pregnancy. Unfortunately, if you’re starting to experience back pain, it will most likely increase as you gain more weight towards the end of the trimester. Although unavoidable during your waking hours, you don’t have to suffer so much during the night—there are some wonderful products out there such as the full body pregnancy pillow, which will help you make it through the night without too much undue suffering. Water retention is another fairly classic albeit annoying pregnancy symptom which typically leads to swollen fingers, toes, ankles and/or legs. These are all perfectly normal (and fairly bearable) symptoms that should not be a source of unnecessary stress. Despite these annoyances, the second trimester is typically experienced as the most exciting yet enjoyable of the three— the morning sickness is gone, you definitely feel and look pregnant, but you’re not yet reaching the overstuffed lumbering mammoth state. Go team go!

12th Week

hehe ..
I'm in my 12th week of pregnancy!! I still do have the morning-afternoon-evening-night sickness.. today was the worst I guess..
okay, .. updates.. appetite, getting better & better (except today..again) .. no puking last week! bravo!! ..
I'm still on Duphaston, Bcomplex, AcidFolic, Calcium.
It was my birhtday last Thursday, mom gave me the USANA Essentials. When I was pregnant to Haariz, I took Essentials starting from the 5th month. Alhamdulillah, I had a healhty pregnancy & a healthy baby. Not even a day of jaundice.. he was very active (in & out of the tummy) & very alert.. again, Alhamdulillah. (For those who would like to try the USANA-Essentials.. do email me)
Alrighty, the 12th week development (beside not being able to squeeze into my pre-pregnancy pants)
baby:Even though your little Einstein’s body is still growing quite rapidly and is about 2 inches long right now, the overall super-speedy growth of their amazing brain continues to leave the head proportionately larger than the body— and is actually slightly more than one third of their total body mass! The head and neck are still straightening at this point as can be seen by their little chin lifting off of the chest. Your baby is also actively rehearsing “breathing” by using amniotic fluid to prepare the lungs for future air respiration.
The big news: your little pooper is now officially going to need diapers! Although a majority of the waste produced is transferred to the mother’s system for discharge (to avoid lingering in the amniotic sac), some urine is released to the amniotic fluid and your baby will actually breathe it in before it passing it on to your for discharge. Not to worry, urine--in this particular form is actually harmless to your child.

And how's mom doing? Logically, as your baby is growing bigger, so must your uterus. By now, your once-flat and relatively small uterus is stretched to the size of a softball (12-14 cm), but that’s nothing: by the time you deliver it will have grown to 15 – 17 inches (37 – 42 cm). Your uterus is slowly increasing at a rate of approximately one centimeter per week. If you've got a burning sensation that extends from your breastbone to your throat, you've got heart burn or acid indigestion. To lessen this unpleasant experience: eat smaller meals and avoid fried, spicy, and fatty foods. Otherwise, there's always TUMS, but check with your healthcare provider first
As your pregnancy becomes more physically visible you’ll have to adjust to people asking you when you’re due and lots of unsolicited advice from women who’ve “been there.” Ideally, this is the right time to share the news with close family and friends and anyone who would want to get involved with things (if they haven’t already) by spreading the news at work and to others. Allowing them this role encourages participation and support in the future—when you’ll really need it!

Surprise..surprise
Last Monday;

-I had my second appointment with my gynae earlier in the afternoon.. everything looks good.. eventhough i've lost about a kilo since last month.. I'm lack of appetite..been vomiting at least once every 2 days (lucky me), for the last 2 weeks ( none for this week yet, Alhamdulillah)

baby was moving (dancing? swimming? :P ) his/her hands & legs around during the ultrasound scan, the hands & legs are well formed.. lenght are all measured.. & looks good (normal)..Alhamdulillah

click here to understand your baby's ultrasound scan

-It was also my mum's 68th birthday & she got the best birthday present from us.. (i guess?).. yepp .. we finally told her about our no.2 :P .. we attached the scan pic of baby no.2 onto her birthday card.. and it took her about 5 minutes to actually understand, what it is all about (didnt have her glasses on ..thats why)

weekly fetal developement:

http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/pregnancy_calendar/week11.html

From this week until week 20, your baby will be growing rapidly — increasing in size from about 2 inches (5 cm) to about 8 inches (20 cm) from crown to rump. To accommodate all this growth, the blood vessels in the placenta are increasing in both size and number to provide the baby with more nutrients.
Facial development continues as the ears move toward their final position on the sides of the head. If you saw a picture of your baby now, you'd think you had a genius on your hands — the baby's head accounts for about half of the body length!
Although your baby's reproductive organs are developing rapidly, the external genitals of boys and girls appear somewhat similar until the end of week 11. They will be clearly differentiated by week 14.

got to go.. will continue later!

10th Week
I'm 10weeks & 5 days today.

baby:

Fetal development in pregnancy week 10:fetus in third month Your astonishingly tiny baby has graduated from embryo to full blown fetus! And so it should be, as they've been hard at work growing as fast as possible—almost doubling in size in the past three weeks! Amazingly, you’re in for a repeat size doubling performance within the next three weeks! Your tiny champion still weighs less than a quarter of an ounce but has already completed the most critical stage of their development. Using Doppler technology, your doctor or gynecologist can let you hear their tiny rapid fetal heartbeats this week (145-165 beats per minute!). Chances for miscarriage are greatly reduced when the heartbeat can be detected, so take a sigh of relief if you’ve been needing one—it hasn’t been an easy ten weeks! What’s more, they’re getting ready to make their first baby poop! Your little one’s major organ systems are developing, including a functioning digestive tract capable of moving food all the way through their bowels. The final shiny gold star on their fetal behavior chart for the week: your little scrapper has already developed defense mechanisms to protect them on reflex!

me:
More good news for mom: the placenta has grown substantially, in both size and function. It is now beginning to manage some of your child’s hormones, finally taking some of the hormonal burden off of you! Since the placenta has gradually taken over the hormone production for your baby, you should start to notice that much-awaited decrease in morning sickness symptoms. Like everything else, though, this is just a general guideline... if you have lingering effects for another couple of weeks, don’t fret (or fret, but don't blame us)—pregnancy is not a standardized procedure so much as an individual journey

baby:
Your baby is somewhere between 1 and 1-1/2 inches in length and probably weighs about 4 grams (or as much as 4 paper clips). He or she has lips, toes, eyes that are usually open, ears that are completely formed, and the genitals are becoming more clearly defined. The little pollywog you have inside has lost its "tail" and this week marks the end of the embryonic stage and the beginning of the fetal stage!

me:

You may continue to feel some morning sickness, dizziness, and fatigue, but they should all be decreasing. At 10 weeks, many women begin to see their stomachs stick out. Generally, this is due to your bowels becoming distended rather than the growth of the baby. Little by little your waistline will become less defined. This is a great time to take some photos and measurements to start documenting your body's changes in your journal.

some other article that caught my interest from pregnancyweekly.com : Pregnancy Following Miscarriage

okay.. enough on the development..
I've been searching for 'amalan semasa mengandung & hamil' .. here are some results:
with doa :

- amalan sunat semasa mengandung

(Hadis riwayat Ibnu Sunni)

okay.. thats all .. till next week :) (week 11th! .. one more week till I say bye bye to my first trimester!)

at 9 weeks..

nope. thats not my baby. hehe.. scan pic taken from www.about.com

few words from pregnancy.about.com about being pregnant at 9 weeks:

mother:

-You may find yourself with a stuffy nose. (no wonder!!)

-You continue to feel tired, nauseated, and possibly dizzy. Making a baby is hard work (please let me sleep, sleep and more sleep)

baby:

We have elbows! Your baby is now approximately 13-17 mm crown to rump length, or about 0.51 - 0.66 inches. S/he also weighs in at 1 gram! Toe rays are present as the toes begin to form. Gonads have become testes (for boys) or ovaries (for girls). Baby will move away if touched through the uterine wall, and can spontaneously move as well. Ossification (hardening) of the bones may begin

dad:

Don't worry if she cries at commercial or seemingly for no reason. These are simply hormones. The same ones that might cause her to be more irritable. And if you think it's bad being on the receiving end, let us assure you that it's not very pleasant to feel like your body has been taken over. Again, the good news is that as the placenta matures and begins to take over production of some of these hormones, mom-to-be feels better.

ah..gotta go.. we're going swimming! (me & girlfriends!!)

Congratulations..!
http://www.babiesonline.com/pregnancy/duedate

Congratulations!

Your Due Date Is Sunday, August 05, 2007
Your conception date was most likely Sunday, November 12, 2006
You are in Week 9 of your pregnancy and your baby is 7 weeks old. Why is this? *
Your Second Trimester will begin 2/4/2007
And your Third Trimester will begin 5/6/2007
60 days down, 220 to go!

* Why is this?:
A full term pregnancy lasts 40 weeks (280 days), broken down into 13-week trimesters, starting from the first day of your last menstrual period. That's right, you haven't even conceived in what physicians consider to be the first two weeks of pregnancy. You might as well get used to this idea now: Your first day of pregnancy is the first day of your last menstrual period. Ovulation usually occurs two weeks after that, and most women conceive during that time. So as if thinking you may be growing a human being inside of you isn't confusing enough, you are already two weeks pregnant on the day you conceive!

http://www.baby-gaga.com:

And how's mom doing? Your slightly-larger-than-a-cherry embryo is also starting to have a physical impact on you this week—and not just hormonally, as you may be noticing a slight bulge at your midline. Most people wouldn’t even notice the change, but since you’re tuned in to every little change in your body, it hasn’t it’s always worth the time and effort to explain to yourself and others the reason for your current emotional rollercoaster; you don’t have to be a monster just because you feel a little whacked out slipped past. Good news for the hormonally tortured: if you have been extra moody lately, that may start to subside this week, as the placenta is just starting to make your baby’s hormones. This means your body will soon be able to relax its over-production of hormones as the placenta starts to regulate your baby’s hormones-- allowing your body to focus on producing more “regular levels” of hormones (see Week 10).
At this point any close family or friends have undoubtedly noticed you’re a little more moody and/or irritable than usual. And there are probably times where you’re ready to tell the world off (maybe you already have), but it’s always worth the time and effort to explain to yourself and others the reason for your current emotional rollercoaster; you don’t have to be a monster just because you feel a little whacked out. Focus on your breathing and energy levels. Take naps if you feel fatigued but don’t be afraid to take long walks outside for fresh air. Sit down if you start to feel nauseous, eat (healthy vitamin-rich) foods when you’re hungry. Even though there’s no bi-weekly paycheck or boss, pregnancy is harder work than you might think and you need lots of positive physical and emotional energy to provide your baby with the safest strongest home possible.

http://www.babycenter.com:
today (26 December 02) As hungry as you may be in the coming weeks, eating for two doesn't mean doubling your serving sizes — your baby's caloric needs are still pretty small.

You haven't gained much weight yet, but parts of you are certainly growing — like your breasts. You'll soon need bigger bras with better support than your old ones. You may notice your waistline expanding as well, forcing you to pack away your favorite jeans. Less obvious is the increase in your blood volume; by the end of your pregnancy, you'll have 40 to 50 percent more blood running through your veins to meet the demands of your baby. Your need for iron increases with your blood volume. Take your prenatal vitamins to make sure you're getting the extra iron you need so that you don't become anemic.Feeling tired? Hormonal changes, in particular, can cause you to feel sluggish. And it's not uncommon to be having trouble getting a good night's sleep at this point, especially if you're uncomfortable at night or getting up to use the bathroom repeatedly. Frequent nausea and vomiting can certainly cost you energy, too. If you can, try to get between nine and ten hours of sleep at night, or take naps during the day.

Fetal development in pregnancy week 8:embryo in second month We’ve got one whole inch of baby to measure! Your little embryo has finally reached the one-inch mark (30mm) at last. And if it were possible to take a peek, you could see your tiny baby with your naked eye! What’s more, your baby is finally starting to take on some very distinct human features. For starters, their little tail (really just the spinal cord) has disappeared completely. It’s nice to know your baby can no longer be mistaken for a sea creature! Additionally, both their toes and fingers are prominent with very little, if any, webbing. Upper and lower limbs all show recognizable joints (elbows and knees) and the lower limb bones are starting to ossify. But don’t expect your baby to resemble either parent quite yet. Right now, your baby’s head is disproportionately larger than the rest of their body--making up almost half of your little one’s height and weight!

How your baby's growing: Your baby is now 5/8 of an inch long, about the size of a kidney bean. She's constantly moving and shifting, although you won't be able to feel these womb wiggles for several weeks yet. Her embryonic tail is disappearing, and her eyelids practically cover her eyes. Still slightly webbed, her fingers and toes are growing longer. Her arms have lengthened, too, and her hands are now flexed at the wrist and meet over her heart. Her knee joints have formed, and her feet may be long enough to meet in front of her body. With her trunk straightening out, her head is more erect. Breathing tubes extend from her throat to the branches of her developing lungs. The nerve cells in her brain are also branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. Though you may be daydreaming about your baby as one gender or another, the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl.

The heart is pumping
me
I went to see my gynae yesterday. . & I saw my lil baby's heart beating.. (My son & hubby saw it too!!) Based on the measurement & due date calculation, the baby's growth is okay (normal). (I will post the scan photo later..)

beside the scan, she gave me all these.. to be taken daily..

For me & baby
* Duphaston :
so I'll have healthy uterine lining & to avoid miscarriage.

* Folic Acid:
You need extra folic acid during pregnancy, especially in the first 12 weeks while your baby’s body is being formed. Not enough folic acid at this time may, in some women, cause a problem with the developing brain and spinal cord in her baby. This is what is meant by a neural tube defect or NTD. (http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/pregnancy/health/eating/folic_acid.asp)

* B Complex:
Help! couldnt find anything on this!!

For me(due to serious choughing & flu)
* T. Bisolvan:
Bisolvan is a mucolytic (?!) and effective in the treatment of chesty coughs

* T. Piriton:
Can't find any relevant info on this. But I've been taking it for flu..all this while (& it's safe to be taken during pregnancy)

* Rhinathiol (cough syrup):
Cough syrup - safe to be taken during pregnancy..
baby
Weekly fetal development; at 7th week:

http://www.babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing: Your baby still appears to have a small tail (actually, it's an extension of his tailbone), which will disappear in the next few weeks. But that's the only thing getting smaller. Now almost half an inch long — roughly the size of a raspberry — he has elbow joints and distinct, slightly webbed fingers and toes. In his oversized head, both hemispheres of his brain are developing. His teeth and the inside of his mouth are forming, and his ears continue to develop. Eyelid folds partially cover his tiny peepers, which already have some color, and the tip of that nose you'll be tweaking someday is emerging. His skin is paper-thin and his veins are clearly visible.Your little one also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. His liver is busy producing red blood cells, and a loop of your baby's growing intestines is bulging into his umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from his tiny body. You can't feel his gyrations yet, but your baby is like a little jumping bean, moving in fits and starts around his watery home.

http://pregnancy.baby-gaga.com
Your baby is really beginning to develop more physical definition this week – their oversized head isn’t just large and oblong anymore, it’s actually a little bit pointy. The tiny receding tail bud is now starting to be overshadowed by the growth of their legs, which are now complete with knees and the beginnings of toes. Their eyes and ears are the most visible features on the head and miniature bones are starting to harden throughout their body. You also have some variation on a boy or a girl at this point although their genitals won’t be visible enough to determine which color cigars you’re going to buy until around the 16th week.

6th Weeks
me:
Alhamdulillah.
I'm already in my sixth week plus 5 days.
My last pregnancy lasted only 5 weeks plus (5days to be exact).
I hope everything will be okay this time. InsyaAllah.
But, what worries me is that, I dont have any pregnancy symptoms/sickness at all.
I'm starting to doubt, Me being pregnant for no.2.
But the test was '+' .. remember?
Everything taste good. No such unpleasent smell. Except for one thing.. my b**bs are damn sore.

I was thinking of visiting my gynae this evening.. called up the clinic, but she's done for today. Will be available tomorrow evening. hmm..

My first day of last period was 29 October 2006. Meaning that, my baby will be due on August 5 2006 (that is if my cycle is 28days..) calculate here

oh.. one more thing. none of my family member knows that I'm pregnant (except for hubby). None of my best friend (ops.., 1 person knows). Only 2 of my collegues know (one who keep track of my period, since we share the same date & cycle..ehheh & one of my team member, in case of any emergency). yeah.. thats it.. oh.. plus who ever reads this posting. (i believe ppl have stopped visiting since my miscarriage few months ago).

okay peeps. take good care. will update with news from my gynae.

Your baby's limbs begin to develop, but at this stage they look more like fins with bumps at the ends than the adorable arms, legs, fingers, and toes they'll later morph into.
